Abstract
Since the lesioned part of the Exacum affine cv. plant showed remarkab le insect attractivity to males of the giant danaid butterfly, Idea le uconoe, the volatile components of E. affine cv. were analyzed. The ma in component in every part was identified as 2'-hydroxy-4'-methoxyacet ophenone (paeonol), and authentic paeonol crystals showed similar inse ct attractivity.
