Based on compatibility conditions, as well as a trilinear moment-curva
ture relationship, an analytical model was presented recently to predi
ct the response of reinforced/prestressed concrete frames and continuo
us beams to static loads. The model was compared to the test specimens
and was found to be applicable throughout the loading history. This p
aper shows that the inelastic response of prestressed concrete frames
to dynamic loads can be predicted when the trilinear theory for the pr
imary curve is combined with Takeda's rules for the hysteresis loops a
nd with the linear acceleration step-by-step method for the dynamic mo
del. The algorithm is described and a numerical example is given.
