Abstract
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infections continue to cause major economic losses to the cattle industry inspite of extensive use of vac cines. A major factor in the failure to control BVDV is the lack of pr oper design of vaccination programs to control the reproductive aspect s of this infection. Preventing the generation of persistently infecte d animals is the key to elimnating BVDV in herds.
