The atomic structures at Ti(C, N)-TiB2 interfaces with two different o
rientation relations in Ti(C, N)-TiB2-Ni ceramics were investigated us
ing high-resolution electron microscopy including image simulations. A
tomic interface structure models of the Ti(C, N)-TiB2 interfaces were
proposed. By comparing the experimental images with the image simulati
ons for given boundary structure models, the possible atomic configura
tions of the interfaces have been determined. The step structure at th
e interface was analysed by application of the near-coincident-site la
ttice theory.
