Abstract
Cross sections and rate coefficients for excitation of the 2s(2)2p(5) 2P(3/2)-2S(2)2P(5) 2P(1/2) transition in fluorine-like ions by proton, deuteron, triton, and alpha-particle impact have been calculated usin g the close-coupled impact parameter method. The ions considered are N e II, S VIII, Ti XIV, Ni XX, Zn XXII, Ge XXIV, Se XXVI, Kr XXVIII, Mo XXXIV, Ag XXXIX, and Pb LXXIV. Cross sections were calculated for a ra nge of impact energies, and the 2s2p(6) S-2 State was included by mean s of a polarization potential. Excitation rate coefficients have been calculated from the cross sections for a wide range of temperatures. ( C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
