F. Lefrere et al., A SPONTANEOUS REMISSION OF LYMPHOID BLAST CRISIS IN CHRONIC MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA FOLLOWING BLOOD-TRANSFUSION AND INFECTION, British Journal of Haematology, 88(3), 1994, pp. 621-622
We report a case of spontaneous remission of lymphoid blast crisis in
chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML) which returned to chronic phase, w
ithout the use of cytostatic chemotherapy, following an episode of vir
al infection and blood transfusion. Although complete remissions of ac
ute leukaemia have been described, this evolution is extremely rare an
d has never been reported in CML blast crisis. The role of hypothetica
l factors leading to such a rare event are briefly discussed.
