Abstract
A simple procedure, which consists of direct heating of pyridinium chl oride and the starting material, is described for the dehydration of a lditols. Anhydroalditols, of great interest for various applications, are thus obtained, and the selectivity of the reaction is discussed. S ome selective protections for further uses of these products are studi ed.
