Magnesium alloys are a light material and for this reason they are of
interest for technologies where the weight of structures should be dec
reased to a minimum. Deformable magnesium alloys have very high streng
th characteristics. The mechanical properties of deformable magnesium
alloys are determined by the structural processes occurring in cold-ha
rdening or its removal. One such process is recrystallization. The lit
erature contains little data on recrystallization of magnesium alloys
containing yttrium, although yttrium is an effective strengthening age
nt for magnesium. The present work is devoted to the special features
of recrystallization of a magnesium alloy of the Mg - La - Zr system c
aused by introduction of yttrium into it.
