A. Ribbe et Cd. Eisenbach, ELECTRON-MICROSCOPIC INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF THE ZINC COMPONENT TYPE AND ADDITIVES ON ITS DISTRIBUTION AND OR SOLUBILITY IN RUBBER SYSTEMS, Kautschuk und Gummi, Kunststoffe, 47(10), 1994, pp. 727-729
Element spectroscopic imaging (ESI) has been applied in transmission e
lectron microscopy to investigate the distribution of different second
ary accelerators in filled natural and styrene-butadiene rubber system
s. Distinct differences between ZnO/stearic acid and zinc stearate wer
e observed: A zinc specific imaging was not possible in the zinc stear
ate containing samples indicating its molecular distribution, whereas
the element spectroscopic image of the ZnO/stearic acid containing sam
ple showed the zinc oxide particles as charged in the compounding. Mor
phological differences between unvulcanized and vulcanized samples wer
e only observed for the zinc stearate samples.
