Kg. Mcmanus et al., LIPOTHYMOMA WITH RED-CELL APLASIA, HYPOGAMMAGLOBULINEMIA, AND LICHEN-PLANUS, The Annals of thoracic surgery, 58(5), 1994, pp. 1534-1536
We describe a patient who had lipothymoma with red cell aplasia, hypog
ammaglobulinemia, and lichen planus. Parathymic syndromes described in
association with lipothymomas also include myasthenia gravis, hyperth
yroidism, lymphangioma, aplastic anemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia,
and Hodgkin's disease. The behavior of lipothymoma is generally benig
n, although local recurrence was noted in 1 patient who had an incompl
ete resection. Lipothymoma should be considered in the diagnosis of me
diastinal tumors and parathymic syndromes, and also in patients with c
ardiomegaly, phrenic nerve palsy, and a widened mediastinum.
