The TM-polarized waves propagating along the interface between a nonli
near Kerr-like material and linear cladding are investigated. We analy
se the nonlinear dielectric permittivity as a function of the electrom
agnetic field. It is shown that an exact analytical solution of Maxwel
l's equations corresponding to the TM surface polariton in the form de
scribed by sech function do exist in a Kerr-like nonlinear medium with
the permittivity profile given by a hypergeometric function. We compa
re our analytical solution and analogous exact numerical solution in a
Kerr medium. The power flow down the interface between two media is a
lso discussed.
