ETEST FOR ANTIFUNGAL SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING OF YEASTS

Comparison [+/-1 dilution between minimum inhibitory con centrations ( MICs)] of fluconazole and flucytosine Etest MICs of 10 candidate quali ty control yeast isolates and 78 clinical isolates demonstrated good a greement (greater than or equal to 90%) with the reference method (Nat ional Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards document M27-P). Thi s study suggests that the Etest is a promising alternative method for antifungal susceptibility testing in the clinical laboratory, but that further evaluations are needed.
