IEF and SDS PAGE were compared for the identification of species in He
terorhabditis and IEF (in conjunction with silver staining) was found
to be the more sensitive method. The Heterorhabditis isolates examined
could be divided into the following four groups according to the elec
trophoregrams obtained: 1. the North West European group, including H.
megidis; 2. the Irish group; 3. the Tropical group, and 4. the H. bac
teriophora group.
