Abstract
Different molecular-genetic methods were wed to identify a cohort of L eishmania strains from natural foci of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasi s located in Central Asia, on the former USSR territory. The results o btained using isoenzymes, PCR, restriction fragment length polymorphis ms of kDNA and molecular hybridization techniques are discussed in ter ms of their applicability, discrimination power and feasibility for an swering questions related to molecular epidemiological research and fo r detecting mixed Leishmania infections.
