Abstract
An analysis of applications and replications of the work of Geert Hofs tede was based on a collection of citations of published and unpublish ed material. Four types of usage were found: citations, reviews, empir ical replications, and as a paradigm. The role of Hofstede's work is i llustrated by the number of citations, the widespread usage of Hofsted e's culture types beyond citation as well as confirmation of the resul ts and validation of the dimensions by empirical research.
