Abstract
Stable hexagonal patterns are shown to exist in a field with pure-cubi c nonlinearity. The mean field provides the stabilizing mechanism, whi ch is related to the structure of the amplitude equations. Numerical e xperiments on the Swift-Hohenberg equation are provided as an illustra tion.
