In an attempt to elucidate the relation between structure and electrop
horetic behavior, the effect of pH, surfactant and buffer on electroph
oretic mobilities and resolution of several flavonoids, differing in s
tructure, has been investigated. Ring-B substitution and the presence
of a free hydroxy group at C-7 of ring A play an important role, where
as O-methoxylation is less significant. Glycosylation also contributes
in determining different degrees of complexation with berate, thus af
fecting the mobilities.
