Abstract
A new method for the determination of 2-thiobarbituric acid, using its reaction with iodine in an alkaline medium is presented. In the volum etric titration with potentiometric end-point detection, the determina bility range is 10-400 mu mol (1.4-58 mg). In coulometric titration us ing the biamperometric end-point detection, 0.1-20 mu mol (1.4 x 10(-2 )-2.9 mg) of 2-thiobarbituric acid was successfully determined.
