Abstract
In this paper a new digital signal processing algorithm for arcing fau lt detection and fault distance calculation is presented Tt was derive d by processing the line terminal voltages and currents. A simple squa re wave are voltage model was assumed to represent the long are in fre e air. The unknown model parameters (the line resistance and inductanc e, and are voltage amplitude) were estimated by using the least square s error technique.
