Abstract
Dedicated extremity MR imaging represents a radical departure from con ventional whole-body scanning. Extremity MR imaging offers such advant ages as reduced cost, more convenient and inexpensive setting, greater patient comfort and safety, and high diagnostic power. This article e xamines some of the features of extremity MR imaging and how this tech nology is affecting musculoskeletal imaging in today's environment of cost containment and health care reform.
