MR imaging is a common, accurate, and cost-effective diagnostic study
in the evaluation of internal derangement of the knee. Ligamentous dis
ruptions are an important component of knee injuries and require accur
ate clinical assessment and imaging for optimal management. For the ra
diologist, this requires knowledge of normal anatomy, technical detail
s regarding MR imaging, normal and abnormal MR findings, and the clini
cal significance of the results of these injuries. This article discus
ses the MR imaging evaluation of knee ligament injuries, anterior cruc
iate Ligament. reconstruction, and the clinical relevance of the MR im
aging findings.
