Abstract
Studies on the cathodic reduction of carbon dioxide at electrodes prep ared from various metals or semiconductors (including those conducted in the presence of complex organic catalysts) are reviewed. Factors af fecting the rate and selectivity of the reduction reaction are analyze d. Current concepts on the mechanism of the reaction are considered.
