The mechanism of hydrogen evacuation from the cathodic surface in the
reduction process during crystallization of a copper dendrite deposit
is studied. The processes of hydrogen formation and evacuation are fou
nd to be governed by regularities of gas evolution in electrolysis wit
h a porous electrode, whereas the reaction of hydrogen ion reduction o
ccurs practically over the entire extended deposit surface. The relati
on between the area, which is occupied by gas channels at the disperse
d deposit surface, and the cathode potential is obtained.
