Abstract
This paper describes the application of a Co-based amorphous alloy fla
ke to a common-mode noise filter. Saturation magnetization and relativ
e permeability are measured to be 7000 G and 1150, respectively. The a
morphous flake exhibits high loss characteristics; the resistance of a
0.0065 cm(3) amorphous flake increases from 0.14 Omega at 1 MHz to 2.
2 Omega at 1 GHz as the frequency is increased. It is confirmed that a
filter of 1/7 the volume of a conventional filter (ferrite core) exhi
bits the same noise attenuation in the 10 MKz similar to 1 GHz frequen
cy range.
