Abstract
The preparation and characterization of a blue-emitting alternating-cu rrent electroluminescent (ac-EL) cell based upon ZnS:Tm, Li powders ar e described. EL spectra clearly show dominant blue emission peaking at 2.6 eV originating from (1)G(4)-->H-3(6) transition. Advantages and p roblems of the powder-based ac-EL cell have been discussed in comparis on with thin-film-based ac-EL cells.
