GIANT MAGNETORESISTANCE EFFECT IN AMORPHOUS COFEB SANDWICHES

The giant magnetoresistance effect has been investigated for amorphous -CoFeB/Cu/Cs sandwiches with. and without exchange-bias layers. A maxi mum magnetoresistance ratio of 5.4% was obtained in the CoFeB/Cu/Co sa ndwich at room temperature, where most of the MR change occurred withi n a magnetic field change of 280 A/m (3.5 Oe). The sandwich with NiO e xchange-bias layer showed spin valve behavior with a MR ratio of 2.5%.
