Signal separation for composite signals of coal in an irradiated quart
z tube was demonstrated using field-swept electron spin echo (ESE) ima
ging. An uniform and intense magnetic field gradient was produced by s
ixteen straight wires inserted into a microwave cavity. The distributi
ons of spins in coal and an irradiated quartz tube were imaged indepen
dently using a field-swept ESE with different spin-spin relaxation tim
es, by selecting the time interval, tau, between the 90 degrees and 18
0 degrees pulses. The advantage of adopting the field gradient wires i
nside the cavity for pulsed ESR imaging is discussed.
