Cw. Dawson et Rj. Dawson, TOWARDS MORE FLEXIBLE MANAGEMENT OF SOFTWARE SYSTEMS-DEVELOPMENT USING META-MODELS, Software engineering journal, 10(3), 1995, pp. 79-88
Software development paradigms currently used within industry are base
d on established models of the software life-cycle. As technology has
evolved and become more accessible, more flexible approaches to the de
velopment of software systems have been advocated. Several new models
have evolved over recent years based on more powerful software enginee
ring tools and more sophisticated development methodologies. A more re
sponsive approach to the development of software systems should allow
the integration of alternative development models to be achieved witho
ut requiring changes in the development management structure. The pape
r introduces meta-models that allow more flexible management of softwa
re systems development. A management technique (generalised activity n
etworks) is also introduced that assists in achieving this aim.
