We report four people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infectio
n and mania whose manic symptoms improved when given the atypical anti
psychotic agent remoxipride as an adjunct, and in whom traditional neu
roleptics were not well tolerated due to marked extrapyramidal side ef
fects. General issues surrounding choice of pharmacological agent in H
IV-related mania are discussed.
