Wr. Ferrell et al., SECONDARY-ION CORRELATIONS IN PLASMA DESORPTION MASS-SPECTROMETRY AS A FUNCTION OF FISSION FRAGMENT ENERGY, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 96(3-4), 1995, pp. 536-540
Coincidence counting techniques in conjunction with time-of-flight mas
s spectrometry (TOF-MS) have been applied to the study of correlations
between secondary ions desorbed by Cf-252 fission fragments. The aver
age energies of the projectiles were decreased by the interposition of
thin foils between a Cf-252 radioactive source and a CsI target. The
co-emission of the secondary ions was examined as a function of projec
tile energy after each foil. The correlation coefficients were observe
d to increase with decreasing average energy of the projectiles.
