J. Dominguezvazquez et al., NOTE ON ISOTOPIC EFFECTS IN RANGE CALCULATIONS OF HIGH-ENERGY ION-BEAMS, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 96(3-4), 1995, pp. 646-650
A simple analytical model that allows the calculation of the percent-l
evel differences of the average ranges of isotopic ion beams slowing d
own in solid targets is extended to energies in the MeV region and to
investigate isotopic effects due to small variations in the mass of th
e target species. The various contributions to the range in terms of i
on stopping, both nuclear and electronic, and angular scattering, can
be investigated separately. The model agrees with available experiment
al data, and predictions are made for a range of cases of interest.
