The high brightness of the Cerenkov radiation from EAS of superhigh an
d ultrahigh energies makes it possible to obtain EAS images with the h
elp of a point-like aperture camera (a camera obscura). The skylight n
oise in this camera is greatly suppressed compared with traditional EA
S Cerenkov detectors. An array of many camera obscuras is able to regi
ster EAS Cerenkov radiation in the presence of high-intensity sky nois
e-on full-moon nights or even at twilight. The ability of the imaging
camera to select EAS events makes it possible to design a relatively s
imple data acquisition system for an array of thousands of cameras.
