M. Abdaoui et al., PHYSICOCHEMICAL STUDY AND REACTIVITY OF CHARGE-TRANSFER COMPLEXES BETWEEN SUBSTITUTED AZOMETHINES AND P-BENZOQUINONES, Bulletin des Societes chimiques belges, 104(6), 1995, pp. 375-381
Substituted imines (donors) and accepters such as the chloranil (CHL),
the bromanil (BRL) and the 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano benzoquinone (DDQ
) form charge transfert complexes in the liquid and solid states. Phys
ico-chemical properties as well as the reactivity of the complexes hav
e been studied. Complexes maximal wave lengths and their formation con
stants and the ionization potentials of the donors have been determine
d by UV-visible absorption spectrometry. The CTC formation is confirme
d by infrared, CNMR, and mass (electronic impact method) spectra. The
unexpected formation of the substitution derivatives of the CHL and th
e BRL has been investigated and explained.
