Abstract
Blowroom waste of cotton spinning served as model substance for lignin containing impurities of cotton. This substance consumed twice as muc h caustic soda in alkaline scouring as raw cotton. The role of caustic concentration is neglibile, that of the temperature of the scouring l iquor is detectable in the removal of the impurities. The addition of selected auxiliary chemicals of the scouring liquor strongly promoted degradation and removal of the impurities.
