A 2 GeV synchrotron light source project is in progress in Pohang, Kor
ea. The light source is designed to provide high brightness radiation
with continuous wavelengths down to 1 Angstrom (10(-8) cm) with its pe
ak at 4.43 Angstrom (i.e. 2.8 keV). The project, consisting of a full
energy injector linear accelerator and a 2 GeV storage ring, was launc
hed in 1988 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 1994. In th
is article, we introduce the main features and status of the storage r
ing components and the installation procedure. Radiation characteristi
cs and beamline status are also described.
