Abstract
Several scholars have argued that politics in Sunbelt cities in the de cades around the turn of the century and after World War II clearly di ffered from the pattern of politics in Snowbelt cities. This paper eva luates the views of these authors, suggests that the themes presented about Sunbelt exceptionalism are overstated, and urges further researc h relying on the regime perspective.
