Abstract
Water-soluble polyhydroxylated fullerene derivatives (fullerenols) sho w excellent efficiency in eliminating superoxide radicals (O-2(-.)), g enerated by xanthine-and xanthine oxidase, thus revealing the potentia l use of these compounds as novel potent free radical scavengers in bi ological systems.
