Abstract
Detailed photodecomposition of 1-(3'-quinolyl)propynal tosylhydrazone sodium salt in methanol and acetonitrile-two polar solvents is describ ed. Time evolution of photolytic absorption spectra and GC-MS study of the photolytic products have been carried out to identify the interme diate diazo compound, and the environmental effects on the product dis tribution from the carbene generated.
