Poly phenyl and substituted (4-chloro, 4-nitro, 4-methyl, 4-methoxy, 4
-acetyl, 4-carbomethoxy, 4-benzoyl,2,4,6-trichloro and 2,4,6-tribromo)
poly phenyl acrylates are synthesised from their respective monomers
in solution using benzoyl peroxide as an initiator at 70 degrees C. Th
ese polymers are well characterized by FT-IR H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR spec
tra. The ($) over bar Mw, ($) over bar Mn and the polydispersity index
values (($) over bar Mw/($) over bar Mn) of the polymers in THF are d
etermined employing GPC. The influence of various substituents of phen
yl acrylate moiety on degradation temperatures and on glass transition
temperature (Tg) are studied using TGA and DSC respectively.
