Abstract
We have measured the energy spectra of electrons emitted by the photoe xcited 2p(-1)nl inner-shell states of argon. The photon bandwidth and, to a lesser extent, the electron-energy resolution are improved as co mpared with earlier measurements of Meyer and co-workers. This allows a more detailed comparison with recently calculated decay probabilitie s. Additionally, we have measured the electron-energy spectrum pertain ing to the decay of the 2p(3/2)(-1)5d inner-shell excited state, but t he observed decay channels are not in good agreement with the calculat ions.
