The switching capability of a simple high temperature superconducting
(HTS) lumped element bandstop filter is demonstrated. A bias current o
f the order of the critical current of the HTS material is necessary t
o switch the filter response from high to low attenuation at the stop-
band frequency. A simple theoretical model to describe the ON and OFF
states is presented. First measurements of the response time to a puls
ed bias current show that the switching time is < 2 mu s.
