Abstract
A new optical ATM switch is proposed in which cells from individual in put channels are time multiplexed by bit-interleaving. Compared to an earlier counterpart that used a cell-interleave time multiplexing sche me, the proposed switch has a much simpler structure, which significan tly reduces hardware complexity. A basic demultiplexing experiment is carried out as a test.
