Abstract
A nonlinear loop mirror containing a semiconductor laser amplifier is used to perform all-optical wavelength conversion and demultiplexing a t 20 Gbit/s. This technique has a low polarisation sensitivity and off ers a regenerative function where jitter in the received data is consi derably reduced.
