The deformation analysis of hemispherical-punch stretching was perform
ed using the three-dimensional finite-element program ''ROBUST''. The
effects of the material properties on strain distribution and historie
s of the deformation processes were investigated. Using FE-calculation
results and forming-limit curves proposed by Storen and Rice, the lim
iting cup height and rupture location were predicted for mild steel, h
igh-strength steels, austenitic stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Th
e calculated values agree very well with the experimental data. The re
sults can be expected to contribute to predictive evaluation of materi
al performance using computer simulation.
