Abstract
Analysis of the Raman spectra of crystals containing Yb3+ (f(13)) ions suggests certain anomaly in the behavior of the doubly degenerated vi brations of the crystal. The explanation of this phenomenon is propose d, which accounts for the vibronic coupling (second-order Jahn-Teller effect).
