Jd. Hoskins et al., INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF A MODIFIED-LIVE FELINE INFECTIOUS PERITONITIS VIRUS-VACCINE UNDER EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS (LOUISIANA EXPERIENCE), Feline practice, 23(3), 1995, pp. 72-73
A temperature-sensitive, feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) vaccine w
as evaluated in feline coronavirus naive, specific pathogen free cats.
The vaccine was administered according to the manufacturer's instruct
ions: two doses 3 to 4 weeks apart given to cats 16 weeks or older. No
untoward side effects were observed and 50% of vaccinated cats were p
rotected against challenge exposure to virulent FIP virus. Therefore,
our study indicates that Primucell FIP(TM) has merit in protecting cat
s from FIP under natural conditions.
