Mc. Matias et al., APPLICATION OF FTIR SPECTROSCOPY TO THE STUDY OF CURING OF GLASS-REINFORCED POLYESTER COMPOSITES, Macromolecular symposia, 94, 1995, pp. 273-282
The effect of glass fiber reinforcements on the curing behavior of uns
aturated polyester commercial resins was investigated by Fourier trans
form infrared spectroscopy. Two different E-glass fibers and two comme
rcial resins were employed. The results indicate that both the glass f
iber content and the fiber size have a pronounced effect on the ultima
te values of the styrene conversion. Some complications found in the i
nfrared analysis of commercial resins are also presented.
