This essay shows in graphs that the amount of education that youths re
ceive has been increasing rapidly in the United States and in the rest
of the world. This represents an increase in individuals' capacity to
produce economically and have a higher standard of living. The total
amount of education has also been increasing because of both the incre
ase per person and the larger populations. This implies an increase in
the amount of knowledge that is created, which increases the standard
of living for the community as a whole by increasing the productivity
