Abstract
Phase transformation and iron lattice parameters for nitrogen-implante d XC06 steel were simultaneously studied by means of conversion electr on Mossbauer spectroscopy and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction tech niques. The results revealed that the transformation from epsilon-Fe3- xN into epsilon- or zeta-Fe2N phase correlates with the stress relaxat ion. The mechanism and possible practical implications of this effect are discussed.
