J. Jagielski et al., CORRELATION BETWEEN PHASE-TRANSFORMATION AND STRESS EVOLUTION IN NITROGEN-IMPLANTED IRON, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 196(1-2), 1995, pp. 213-217
Phase transformation and iron lattice parameters for nitrogen-implante
d XC06 steel were simultaneously studied by means of conversion electr
on Mossbauer spectroscopy and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction tech
niques. The results revealed that the transformation from epsilon-Fe3-
xN into epsilon- or zeta-Fe2N phase correlates with the stress relaxat
ion. The mechanism and possible practical implications of this effect
are discussed.
