Abstract
The two-line Sparrow limits of resolution have been obtained for an ab erration-free, rotationally-symmetric optical system apodised by the L anczos amplitude filters. The two object lines considered are unequall y bright. The resolution limit, is found to increase with apodisation and the intensity difference of the two lines for coherent illuminatio n. The sensitivity of the limit to apodisation increases with the incr ease in the difference of brightness of the two object lines.
